This cottage is detached and is part of some old farm outbuildings that have been lovingly restored. The cottage is set within 4.5 acres of farm ground that include wild flowers and an orchard. Nearby there are numerous attractions including Porthcawl's many beaches, the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl Classic Carriages, Porthcawl Promeade Princess and Trecco Bay Fun Fair. Kenfig National Nature Reserve, Bedford Park, Bryngarw Country Park, Parc Tondy, Nash Point Lighthouse, the Heritage Coast Center and Pleasure Steamers are other notible attractions. For castles, you have Candleston Castle, Ogmore Castle and Coity Castle, all nearby.
Merthyr Mawr Sand Dunes are situated about one mile outside the village of Merthyr Mawr; they are a huge network of dunes, rolling over towards the Ogmore/Porthcawl coast, and once the largest sand dune system in Europe. Merthyr Mawr sand dunes claim fame to the highest single sand dune in Europe, known locally as the 'big dipper'. The dunes are very popular with kids, runners and local wildlife enthusiasts. Scenes from the famous film Lawrence of Arabia were filmed at the dunes.
In addition to the outdoor activities there are also plenty of indoor options nearby, including the Bridgend Designer Outlet, Odeon Complex and Ewenny Craft Centre. Being only a short drive away from Cardiff and Swansea there are also plenty of shopping opportunities and large events that can be easily reached from your Porthcawl accommodation.
