Description
This Llansteffan Holiday cottage is brimming with character and charm. Dylan Thomas the famous poet and writer himself actually stayed here. With the castle, beaches , great walks and a local pub, this is not only a superb holiday location but also a great base for exploring all the area has to offer.
Ground Floor
Lounge – Beautiful large open fire ( logs supplied) , with a ‘cwtch’ chair and and a large comfy sofa. TV with DVD, video and freeview.
Reading / Music room – A fantastic grand piano and an exclusive collection of books with reading chairs and dining table to seat 4.
Dining room – Table and chairs for 4 and a further sofa, perfect for relaxing in front of the wood burner. Sofa can be made into a double sofa bed to sleep an additional 2 guests.
Kitchen – Electric hob & oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher.
Utility room / Storage – The outside room includes a washing machine and sink and can also be used to store bikes / walking boots etc.
Upstairs
Master bedroom – Lovely large room with feature chandelier and a king size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. En-suite bathroom with shower, wc and basin.
Master bathroom – Large family bathroom with stand alone bath and a separate large power shower unit.
Double Bedroom – View up over the garden and with a double bed , wardrobe, vanity station and drawers.
Twin Bedroom – 2 single beds in a large room with the traditional fireplace, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Rear paved area with steps leading up to a large vegetable and fruit garden. Guests are welcome to help themselves to whatever is in season. This Llansteffan Holiday cottage has another patio area with garden table and chairs and from the top of the garden, there are great sea views stretching across the estuary.

This Llansteffan Holiday cottage is a semi-detached property set in the heart of the village with the local pub, shop and a restaurant nearby. Llansteffan is allegedly the village which Dylan Thomas based ‘Under Milk Wood’ upon and it is also famous for its castle and estuary beach. There are also many other beaches close by including Scott Bay that seems to be a firm favourite with families. Traditionally the village relied on farming and fishing and it is situated on the estuaries of the famous salmon river the Tywi and the Taf. Within the village, a restaurant called ‘Ty Bwyta’ is worth a visit and The Sticks and The Castle are 2 great local pubs where you can enjoy a friendly atmosphere. Fish and chips are also available from Florries down at the beach.
The market town of Carmarthen and the nearest supermarket is only 7 miles away and whilst supermarket deliveries are also available, we would thoroughly recommend you try the local produce available in the local shop and from surrounding farm shops. Some of the attractions in the area include the National Botanic Gardens, Ffos Las Racecourse, Folly Farm, Oakwood and the Blue Lagoon Water Park which means there is plenty to see and do whatever the weather. Tenby is around 30 mins away by car.
If you are following the Dylan Thomas Trail, as well as soaking up the history within the house and around the village, a trip to Laugharne and the Boat House is a must.
Walking
The new All Wales Coast Path can be joined only a few hundred yards away and there are many great walks including around Llansteffan Castle. 0.3 miles
Cycling
With plenty of quiet country lanes, cycling is a great way to explore the area. 0.1 miles
Beaches
Llansteffan Beach is large with lovely soft sand and there are nice views across the estuary and River Taf to the village of Ferryside. Swimming can be dangerous as it is an estuary beach. 0.3 miles.
Scotts Bay is only a short walk from Llansteffan and is much safer to bathe. Access is via the path from Llansteffan beach car park. 0.7 miles
Pendine a huge sandy beach some 7 miles in length, was made famous by the 5 land speed records set on it. 18 miles
Fishing
Salmon fishing on the River Tywi, one of the UKs best salmon rivers. Permits available. 1 miles
Sea fishing is available on the beach. 0.3 miles
Golf
Derllys Court is a great parkland course. 9 miles.
Water Sports
Excellent surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding at beaches such as Pendine. 18 miles.
Indoors, the Blue Lagoon Water Park is a family favourite. 17 miles.
The Towy Boat Club is based in Llansteffan. 1 mile.
Pony Trekking
