You’ll have gorgeous walking trails from your front door, as well as many climbing and mountain biking opportunities in the area. The pretty town of Dolgellau is 1 mile away, while sandy beaches await you at Fairbourne (8.5 miles) and Barmouth (11.5 miles). It stands on the northern slopes of Cadair Idris, and therefore has spectacular mountain views all around.

Sittting room: the beamed, comfortable lounge has two large settees, quality furniture and a woodburner (logs provided) in a beautiful stone and oak fireplace. TV with basic Sky, video and DVD players. The dual aspect room offers unrivalled views of Cadair Idris and the fields surrounding the property.

Bedroom 1: master bedroom with nicely styled, comfortable double bed, oak furniture and a view of Cadair Idris. Original oak flooring. En-suite tiled en suite shower room with WC and Basin.

Spectacular castles at Harlech, Criccieth, Caernarfon and Conwy are all within driving distance. Royal St David's Golf Club at Harlech (19 miles) which is an 18-hole championship course. Sandy beaches at the popular tourist towns of Fairbourne and Barmouth (8 miles). Great location for enjoying an activity-based or family holiday.

Reviews

A wonderful cottage in an idyllic and remote location. Stunning views and walks from the cottage door, or within 10 minutes drive. The cottage itself was spotless and very well equipped and comfortable for a family holiday. The sky at night here is staggering due the location. We are biased as we love the Dolgellau area, T H Roberts, the Stag inn, craft cooperative etc in Dolgellau and cycle trails nearby. Then return to the cosy fire in Llwyniarth and star gazing.

Mr B,

Fabulous spacious cottage in an amazing peaceful location. Lots of space and the cottage is very well maintained and modern. We spent a lovely Christmas and very much enjoyed our stay.

Mr P,

Stunning location and wonderful house. Total escape with quiet and beautiful views.

Mr P,

Fabulous isolated cottage - perfect

Mr Tim B,

After many many years of renting holiday cottages this was without doubt the cleanest. The setting was exactly what we were looking for and the views were spectacular. We all loved the walking. It was a great holiday in one of my favourite places on earth.

Mr Karl N,

Very comfortable, well equipped cottage. Would highly recommend Snowdon Railway, Welsh Highland Railway, National Slate Museum, Corris Craft Centre. If you book a meal at Portmeirion you get in free in the afternoon. Plus bakery in village is amazing.

Prof Ian K,

A great week in this lovely old farmhouse. Weather has been mixed but still able to walk some great walks. Many thanks for the welcome pack.

Mr Iain W,

Had a lovely week in this cottage, so quiet and peaceful. Had some great walks with the dog. Loved it - week went too fast!

Mrs Ann-Marie A,

Home from home! Perfect position for views and walks, quiet for relaxation. We managed varied walks in the area - our new favourite cottage!

Ms Paula N,

A great size cottage, comfortable beds, very clean, great views and location - Love Wales!

Mrs Jane M,

Cottage beautifully presented, with everything we could need. First visit to Wales and cannot wait to come back - hopefully here next year!

Mrs Lorraine N,

Fantastic cottage in a stunning location. Everything and more to make a real home from home. Thoroughly recommend the butchers in town and George III in Arthog.

Mrs Sandra M,

Nice to be back here again in this lovely cottage. Mixed weather this time but still had nice walks in the area.

Mrs Barbara P,

Amazing cottage with stunning views. There are some great walks from the cottage really enjoyed our stay.

Mr Christopher C,

Stayed here for Christmas three years ago. Immediately felt at home as soon as we arrived. Still paradise and stunning location in the glorious summer weather. Will never tire of Wales with its charms. Diolch!

Mr Michael G,

Thank you for our 3rd stay. Just as relaxed as before. See you again soon. Thanks for the welcome goodies.

Mrs Penny B,

Fabulous as ever. Weather fantastic, saw 3 chicks and nesting Peregrines on Maesglase

Mr Tim B,

Comfortable as ever, we even found some new walks and we have been coming here for years.

Dr Irene P,

Another fantastic week with amazing weather and views. When we first came in 2007 we moaned about not being able to walk in the hills because our daughter was too little - now we can't keep up with her. We will be back!

Mrs Isabel H,

House perfectly situated amongst spectacular scenery. Autumn colours especially in the forest parks - amazing. A welcoming , warm house, all we needed for a great holiday

Mrs Sharon T,

A very well equipt house in a quiet rural setting provided us with a great winter break in north wales. Despite a little damp weather it was easy to dry off and with tiled floors it was easy to clean. In snowy or ice conditions vehicle access may become a problem because of its location.

Mr Iain W,

Mention of slower/reduced internet would be good. Not too bad for us but families expecting good WiFi would be disappointed. Everything else was top notch

Ms Paula N,

House and location were wonderful house was spotless and had every creature comfort possible. The area was stunning and we did not have to travel far for some beautiful walks with our dog. Would highly recommend this house.

Mrs Sharon T,

Map

There are plenty of interesting shops, great cafes, pubs and restaurants in the picturesque market town of Dolgellau. There are also more listed buildings in Dolgellau than in any other town in Wales - over 200 in fact. For amazing cakes and free wifi, visit T.H.Roberts’ Parliament House, or eat out at Meirionydd and Dylanwad Da. For a quiet drink, Unicorn is a lovely setting. There are also many highly recommended restaurants outside the town, such as Bwyty Mawddach and George III at Penmaenpool.

Mountains and coastal walks are amongst the main local attractions, along with sandy beaches at Barmouth and Fairbourne, the world renowned Coed Y Brenin Mountain Biking Centre and the Go Ape High Wire Course. The Mawddach trail, a 9 mile riverside trail along an old railway line from Dolgellau to Barmouth, is perfect for walking or cycling. Other attractions include the National White Water Rafting Centre near Bala, Harlech Castle’s World Heritage site and Talyllyn narrow gauge railway.

Other great days out from this self catering Dolgellau cottage include King Arthur’s Labyrinth, which is great for families, Corris Slate Caverns and Corris Craft Centre. If that’s not enough, what about something even more adventurous such as the longest zip wire ride in Europe at Bethesda or the world’s largest underground trampoline at Blaenau Ffestiniog for a totally different and unique experience.
