Description
Tredegar is a detached house, all on one level, finished to a high standard and in a lovely coastal position near Dyffryn Ardudwy where there are two pubs, a newsagent, village store, cafe and railway station. Views from the rear are out across fields and sand dunes to the sea and vast sandy beach of Morfa Dyffryn, just a short walk to the beach. This is within the Snowdonia National Park, 5 miles to both Barmouth and Harlech.
The cottage is spacious and very well looked after, with a lot of attention to detail from the owners. Tredegar is suitable for people with limited mobility as there are no steps.
Ground Floor
The pretty entrance hall has a cloakroom with WC and basin, and storage for outdoor clothing. The sitting room is a delightful bright and airy room with patio doors to the garden and great views. Good quality laminate flooring throughout. The lounge area has comfortable sofas, flame effect fire and a large flat screen TV/DVD with Sky Freeview, Xbox 1, iPod dock and BT Infinity broadband.
The dining room has a dining table, six chairs and side cabinet. It can be separated from the sitting room, if preferred, by glazed double doors. Patio doors lead to the garden.
The quality fitted kitchen is very well equipped with an electric double oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. The separate utility room has a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and access to the garden.
There are three bedrooms, all decorated and furnished to a high standard, all with small flat screen TVs.
This master king size bedroom is nicely styled with a modern comfortable bed, views to the coast and a smart, compact, tiled en suite shower room with WC and basin. The double bedroom is again nicely styled, at the front of the cottage, and with a good modern comfortable bed.
The third bedroom has an unusual configuration and is either a single or double room. (NOTE: this room can either be a single or has a good quality pull out bed which turns it into a twin or super king size with just enough room to get around the bed.) This room has been thoughtfully furnished to make the most of the available space.
As well as the en suite shower room and cloakroom, there is a family bathroom with a bath with shower over, WC and basin.
Garden
To the rear is a spacious, enclosed lawned garden, backed by field and sand dunes, with a patio area with garden furniture and barbecue. Bike storage available. Plenty of private parking at the front.
Visit Harlech for the stunning castle, independent shops and cafes, sandy beach, golf, theatre, and leisure centre. The traditional seaside resort of Barmouth has a great beach, boat rides for fishing, interesting shops, cafes and restaurants, and most importantly, ice creams! The Mawddach Estuary trail is fantastic for walking and cycling with stunning views. There is a local Children’s Farm Park and Llanfair Slate Caverns to explore. Dyffryn Ardudwy is also backed by the wild mountain area of Rhinogydd offering great walking in this quieter area of Snowdonia. Portmeirion Italianate village is 20 miles away, Porthmadog for Welsh Highland Railway, 22 miles, and Blaenau Ffestiniog for ZipWorld Titan and Bounce Below underground trampolines, 20 miles.

Things to do in the local area
1 – Summer or winter the vast sandy beaches along this section of the coastline are always stunning. The view from the road above can simply take your breath away as you look down across the sands to the distant mountains of Snowdonia beyond.
2- Take a scenic journey on the Cambrian Coast main line railway, lovely in either direction, or walk sections of the coastline and get the train back. There’s a station at Dyffryn Ardudwy, Harlech and Barmouth
3- Cycle a section of Lon Las Cymru (Route 8), a long-distance cycle way stretching from Holyhead the length of Wales to Cardiff. Beware of the section in the hills behind Harlech though, its on very seep lanes!
4- A visit to Harlech and its castle is a must. The castle is looked after by CADW and there are events on throughout the year. The village itself has some lovely cafes, my favourites are Llew Glas and Harlech Castle café, both serving delicious homemade food.
5- The Rhinog mountains behind the coast are known as one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Britain. One of the more popular walks is up the ‘Roman Steps’ from Cwm Bychan. Another is a visit to the Nantcol river and waterfalls, great for swimming if the weather is warm.
6- Barmouth is a thriving seaside resort with a vintage seaside atmosphere of candyfloss, ice creams and donkey rides. The beach is great, there’s a small fun fair during the summer, and the town itself has plenty of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Boat trips and canoe and SUP hire can also be arranged here.
7- Within an hour drive you can visit many of the most popular attractions of north Wales; including Portmeirion Italianate village, the West Highland and Ffestiniog steam Railway, Zip World zip wires and Bounce Below underground trampolines at Blaenau Ffestiniog and the mountains of Snowdonia for walks or the train up Snowdon itself.
