Description

Set in idyllic countryside, this converted stone barn offers a wonderful setting to explore a very special area. Semi-detached, alongside Ystabl y Berwyn (BOW151), the two properties can be booked together, to accommodate two families, friends or larger parties.

With a hot tub and spacious interior you can truly relax in comfort and style. The property has been thoughtfully decorated and retains many original features. The large kitchen provides ample space for friends and family to prepare meals and dine together and in warmer weather this space extends onto the patio through the large kitchen patio doors.

In cooler months the large wood burner sets the scene for an evening's board game, film or some good conversation with your nearest and dearest. Alternatively, you can step out into the hot tub for a warming dip under the stars.

Surrounded by 600 acres of farmland the property sits in the heart of the Berwyn Mountains. There are many scenic walks and mountain biking routes from the door to explore, and wildlife is everywhere, making it an ideal bird watching location. The Berwyn Mountains range is a beautiful, unspoilt area of upland situated in the north-east region of Wales. The isolation this area has to offer is unforgettable with its many walking opportunities and its low number of visitors despite being so near Snowdonia National Park. In short - an amazingly well-kept secret.

The picturesque local village of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog has two inns, The Hand and The West Arms and they both serve good food. Other activities and attractions in the area include, Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest waterfall in Wales (9 miles away), Llangollen (15 miles) and Bala (27 miles).

Reviews

What an amazing place to stay! Has absolutely everything you need, very clean and comfortable with beautiful surroundings to explore. We stayed during the very cold/icy weather and we were lovely and warm in the barn. The hot tub was the best we’ve ever used, lovely and warm and powerful jets! Great after a day walking in the hills! A special thank you to the owners who were so friendly and welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. Thank you for your amazing hospitality and for showing us around the farm! We’d love to return!

Mr B,

Excellent break. Eighth visit to Ysgubur and we will be booking our 9th when next year's dates are available

Mrs J,

We had a fabulous stay at this beautiful cottage in a spectacular location. The owners were very friendly and welcoming going above and beyond for us to ensure we had a great time. The cottage is spotlessly clean and decorated very nicely. It is one of the best we have stayed in. It is located on a working farm but there was no noise and my little boy loved looking at the cows and sheep. The hot tub is great to relax in after a day exploring- fab views. We would definitely return and 100% recommend. We were a party of 7 aged from 81 to 2 years and we all had a great time. I would like to thank Liz and Rhein for a great stay. We would also recommend the hands pub about 2 miles down the road for a really tasty meal.

Mrs B,

The cottage was extremely clean and well presented, Mrs Hughes welcomed us on arrival and was very friendly and chatty. The hot tub was one of the cleanest I have used, it was in an exceptional condition. The property was really well equipped, there was nothing we needed, the log fire was easy to use and clean, with logs provided. We met Mr Hughes who was also very friendly and chatty and we had the pleasure of meeting three of his dogs who were adorable. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Mr K,

A fantastic relaxing stay in a beautiful part of Wales. A really warm welcome from the owners who live opposite and are on hand if you need anything.

Mr S,

The property was absolutely amazing and being on a working farm was lovely (seeing all the animals roaming around), the rooms were well furnished (extra pillows, towels and blankets were a lovely added extra), the kitchen is well equipped with enough items to not need to wash up after every use and a table big enough for large meals or playing games as a group, the hot tub was exceptionally clean and thankfully large enough for the 7 of us, the living room area was comfy and the log burner lovely on an evening. We will absolutely be returning, what a fantastic find!

Mrs B,

Honestly, one the best places we've stayed. This is our second visit here and every time we can't rate it enough

Ms E,

Beautiful place, lovely and clean, comfortable beds, hottub was great, easy enough to find, everything we needed and more, would absolutely book again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mrs M,

A beautiful barn in a relaxing setting. This is the 10th year that we have returned and will be doing so again next year.

Mrs W,

We travelled as a family of 7 and a baby and were made to feel welcome from the start. The cottage is very well equipped with everything a family needs and the hot tub was a very welcome addition. Situated in a beautiful areas, it is in a great location as a base to explore the area and further afield. We all had a wonderful stay with no complaints and would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to have a break in Wales.

Mr W,

Fabulous property in a beautiful location. Everything you could possibly need within the accommodation. Owners really made our holiday with their kindness going way above to make the children happy, allowing them to watch the sheep being fed, fuss the dogs and generally just being kind and attentive to us all. Nothing was too much and we will definitely be visiting again. The location was a perfect base to explore North Wales.

Miss L,

Cottage was very nice and the hot tub was lovely. There are a number of walks available from the cottage (our ages meant we did not walk these). The hosts who live and work on their farm onsite were pleasant and helpful. The road from the village was single track, with many twists and turns and so care and extra travel time is needed. You should expect to come across other users on this road, ranging from large farm vehicles, down to groups of dog walkers. The Hand Pub in Llanarmon DC has good reviews and we very much enjoyed the two meals we had there.

Mr R,

Really enjoyed our stay .The owners lovely and very helpful.Wish we had stayed longer

Mrs T,

The cottage is in a beautiful location, perfect for a tranquil getaway. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The owner is really friendly too

Mrs B,

We had a great time it’s our second visit . The owner is helpful and friendly. The location is very peaceful and the cottage has all you need.

Mr P,

This is a lovely, tastefully converted property in a fantastic location, truly off the beaten track. Great sized bedrooms. Walks in all directions, very quiet roads (albeit some steep) for cycling. Hot tub is great with the most wonderful view. We appreciated the chats with the very friendly owners that gave us a little insight into how the farm runs. Strongly recommend!

Prof R,

Our 7th time of staying here, really friendly owners and nothing too much trouble, well kept and clean.

Mrs E,

Absolutely amazing place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Great location.lambs and calves were being born while there. Very welcoming owners, could not do enough. Would recommend for a chill time away or for a base to explore the area.

Mrs J,

Absolutely beautiful, cottage was wonderful views was amazing, owners was lovely. Will definitely go back, nice chilled week!

Mr T,

We enjoyed a weekend in December with family which was very relaxing. Beautiful cottage, very clean and welcoming. The view from the balcony was fantastic which was lovely when you’re in the hot tub or outdoor seating area. Very spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds. Just what we all needed.

Mrs S,

Beautiful property with everything you need. Excellent standard of accomodation. Would love to return for a third visit.

Ms M,

We were a group of friends and really enjoyed our stay here. The house was very clean and beds were all comfortable. We loved the hot tub morning, noon and night! Very cosy in the living room in the evening with the log burner. Had a trip into Llangollen - great independent shops there. I think we might be back!
