Description

For a peaceful holiday in idyllic countryside this beautifully converted stone barn ticks all the boxes. Surrounded by 600 acres of farmland, the property sits in the heart of the Berwyn Mountains over looking the River Ceiriog. Semi-detached, alongside Ysgubor y Berwyn (BOW152), the two properties can be booked together, to accommodate two families, friends or larger parties.

Ystably y Berwyn is thoughtfully decorated and retains many of the buildings original features such as oak beams and double height ceilings. The barn is comfortable and spacious with generous sized bedrooms and a cosy lounge with wood burner. The kitchen opens out through patio doors to a private terrace and is well equipped for preparing meals while socialising with family and friends. On the terrace you can enjoy a relaxing dip in the hot tub while taking in views over the valley. There are many scenic walks and mountain bike routes from the door and wildlife is everywhere, Lloyd George once described the area as 'a little bit of heaven on Earth'.

The Berwyn Mountains are beautiful, unspoilt and in a relatively unknown area situated in the north-east region of Wales with many walking opportunities. The local village of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog has two inns, The Hand and The West Arms, both serving good food. Other attractions in the area include Pistyll Rhaeadr (9 miles), Llangollen (15 miles) and Bala (27 miles).

Reviews

Amazing stay at Berwyn Barns, everything we needed in beautiful surroundings. Owner friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds great hot tub.

Mrs B,

A fabulous cosy cottage! It had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable, the fire was a delight and the hot tub went down a treat with the whole family. A lovely rural location and Liz and Rhein were always available to help.

Mrs P,

Our favourite place to stay. We have been visiting this cottage since 2007. Equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay. The views are amazing. Lovely walks. So quiet and peaceful. The hosts are lovely. Comfy beds and a cosy warm cottage. Nice well maintained hot tub. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Mr L,

Excellent property, & facilities all tastefully renovated. Using the hot tub in December was amazing. The sound of the river was so relaxing.

Mr J,

The cottage was lovely, spacious. The sofa etc was well worn and hard to get out of . The showers were hot and powerful. The hot tub was a good size. Apart from little niggles I would stay again in a heartbeat. I've been home 3 days and miss being there.

Mrs M,

We had a lovely break, beautiful property, fantastic views and very peaceful location. We are planning to come back next year. Used the hot tub every day, would highly recommend

Ms H,

Cottage was amazing. Cannot fault at all. Clean, warm, homely. Kitchen equipped well. Beds comfy, showers hot and hot tub a lovely bonus

Mrs H,

Peaceful place to stay - really enjoyed staying

Mrs P,

A beautiful house to spend time away in. Fully equipped with everything you needed spotlessly clean and very comfy beds and the scenery was stunning. No issues at all.

Mrs D,

The house is great! We had wonderfull holidays there and enjoyed the hills, the Chirk Castle, the nature, the sheeps, Ted - the farmers‘ dog, the Restaurant „The Hand“ and the fantastic apartment. The bedrooms are lovingly decorated, the living room is very cosy furnished and there is enough place for 6 people. The kitchen is fine and has a dishwasher and a washing machine combiend with a drier. I loved it very much to sit on the terrace and have a view to the hills and the sheeps. Berwyn Barns is a very quiet place. It is a dream house for holidays!

Mrs K,

Mrs N,

The cottage was just stunning and well the beds were the best beds ever so comfy. I ain't slept like a baby in years. That comfy we had to find out the name of the mattress. Highly recommend this beautiful cottage. And defo go back. The owners were so friendly and welcoming

Mrs W,

What a lovely location. Thanks to the owners.

Mr M,

Berwyn Barns are set in a stunningly beautiful and remote landscape with beautiful walks and suitably challenging mountain bike rides straight from the property, along with very nice showers and relaxing hot tubs to return to for a soak and to take in the beautiful views. The barns themselves (I’ve stayed in both) have been beautifully and sensitively renovated, retaining much of the original character stonework & beams. They are very comfortably furnished and well equipped and lovely and warm, which will be especially appreciated when the weather turns wet and cold - though we actually had periods of sunshine every day for our week’s stay over Easter! The owners, who live opposite on the working farm, are very friendly and helpful and willing to stop and chat (you get a glimpse into the challenging work of hill farming + my grandchildren loved the animals around the farm) If you’re drawn to a holiday ‘away from it all’ you will love a stay at Berwyn Barns - we certainly did!

Mr M,

Lovely comfortable warm cottage. Beds were so comfortable. Everthing we needed. Great friendly hosts. Hot tub was great and big! Great touch having towels to use for hot tub.. Saved us using our own.

Mrs S,

Wonderful location, fantastic hosts huge thank you

Mrs R,

We've just had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend! Plenty of space for us (nanny and grandad, parents, teenage child and 4 year old). Awesome views with lovely walks ( challenging ones and more easy going family friendly rambles). Hot tub was fabulous with amazing views in the day, and star gazing at night. Lots of storage. Great bathrooms with lovely powerful showers. Kitchen really well equipped and spacious. We look forward to coming back again in the future!

Mrs L,

Fantastic location, very scenic. The hot tub was lovely over looking the hills and valleys, and the cottage was well equipped, the beds were also very comfortable. We would definitely go back.
