Walking in East Anglesey
Parys Mountain is located near Amlwch in the north East corner of Anglesey. It is the site of a large copper mine that was extensively exploited in the late 18th century. Its lunar appearance makes for an interesting walk with views of Amlwch Port and a nearby wind farm to add to the mix. This waymarked, circular route offers an insight into the historic workings at Parys Mountain, dating back to prehistoric times. The 4.8 mile walk starts and finishes at Penysarn car park.
Pentraeth Forest Circular Walk is a gentle, 9 mile scenic walk through Pentraeth Forest and farmland, with spectacular views over Red Wharf Bay. It should take 3.5 to 4 hours at a steady pace. Start and finish at Pentraeth Car Park whilst the pub in Llanddona offers an opportunity for a refreshing drink or meal at the halfway point.
