Holiday Cottages in Wales – Hay Festival
Published: Thursday 9th May 2013
For holiday cottages in Wales it is great to see the Hay Festival going from strength to strength. The location is in the stunning Black Mountains with fantastic views and yet in such a tiny town.
When you mention Hay Festival many people will think of literature, poetry, plays and musicians. For Bill Clinton who famously visited the Festival said ‘ ‘it is the Woodstock of the mind” A great quote but it offers so much more.
For children lots of workshops to spark the imagination it is very much a get involved approach. Chris Evans launched the 500 words writing competition for kids. So, if music or dance are your thing you will not be disappointed. Plenty of chat about food and lots to enjoy as well. The Kitchen Academy offers the opportunity to learn how to cook a variety of foods from Welsh sushi to chocolate waffles umm
Some people are surprised that environmental debate and a project on sustainability are a big part of the Festival. Science and its impact including the use of digital technology is a key part of the programme. Go along to the talks by gardeners and learn about sustainability. Great to see so many people visit Wales and really put it on the map, it all helps local businesses and a great boost to the tourism industry and holiday cottages in Wales.
It runs from 23rd May for 10 days so don’t be disappointed book early – If you need somewhere to stay ? Bwthyn Tawel is a great holiday cottage in Wales and might just be the ticket.
