Description
Set on a farm in the heart of the beautiful Vyrnwy Valley, this pet-friendly cottage offers an ideal, central base to explore Mid and North Wales. There are also plenty of attractions on site, including a games room, Kunekune pet pigs, and two rivers flowing through the farm, making it ideal for self catering fishing holidays. Great local history and walks, including a riverside path from the farm to the nearby village of Meifod where you can treat yourself to a meal or a drink at the Kings Head.
Ground Floor
Fully fitted kitchen with all amenities, along with an arch shaped serving hatch through to the living / dining area. Electric cooker & hob, under counter fridge with a freezer compartment at top, and microwave.
Oak beamed open plan living / dining area with a brick fireplace and country furnishings. Three seater sofa and an arm chair in front of an electric fire stove and a TV with a DVD player. Full size dining table and four chairs with views of the enclosed garden through the large patio doors.
Upstairs
Light and airy super king bedroom (can also be arranged as two single beds on request) with built in wardrobe, dressing table, occasional chair and lamp lights.
Bathroom with shower, toilet and basin.
Garden / Outside
Enclosed garden with garden bench, picnic table and parasol and a BBQ set provided on request. This garden is shared with the cottage for four next door.
Next door is the games room with a full size pool table, dart board and seating - this is available on request to the owners
River fishing on site. This farm is lucky enough to have not one but two rivers (Vyrnwy and Banwy) flowing through its land. Perfect for self catering fishing holidays.

Bwthyn Banw is one of two semi detached holiday cottages set on a working dairy, beef and sheep farm in the beautiful Vyrnwy Valley. It enjoys a convenient and very central location to explore Mid and North Wales’ wide range of attractions. It also offers the perfect venue for self catering fishing holidays, with two rivers flowing through the farm and many lakes within a few miles. Other on site attractions include the pool table and dart board in the games room, watching the cows being milked on a daily basis from the purpose-built viewing platform or visiting the Kunekune pet pigs.
There are a number of popular walks on the doorstep, including Glyndwr's Way, the Ann Griffiths walk (famous Welsh Hymn Writer) and a riverside path from the farm to the nearby village of Meifod. Amenities at the village include a shop, post office, tennis court and the Kings Head pub which also serves good food. Some of the other recommended places to eat locally include Gwern y Ciliau (6 miles), Tan House Inn, Llangyniew (3 miles) and The Lion, Llansantffraid (7 miles).
There’s a wide range of attractions and activities available within a short distance of the cottage. These include Llanfair Light Railway in Llanfair Caereinion (5 miles), Lake Vyrnwy (11 miles) which offers walking, cycling, fishing and watersports of all kinds and Powis Castle and Garden (10.5 miles). Other castles in the area include the ruins of Mathrafal Castle, once home of Llywelyn, the last Prince of Wales and another of his Welsh castles at Dolforwyn, commanding excellent views of the upper Severn Valley.
Oswestry’s Park Hall Farm Attraction is just 16 miles away, whilst Welshpool’s Canal and Museum and ‘Coed y Dinas’ Shopping Centre & Café (9 miles) are all well worth a visit. Welshpool also has supermarkets, plenty of restaurants and Flash Leisure Centre (Leisure Swimming pool).

Ann Griffiths Walk - 7 mile route following the river Vyrnwy. Full of contrasting Powys landscapes, incuding views of the Berwyn mountains. Starts from Dolanog - 4 miles
Glyndwr's Way is a long distance footpath in Mid Wales that was granted National Trail status in the year 2000. Starts from Maesmawr - 5 miles.
Severn Way – Gentle 12 mile route along the Montgomery Canal towpath from Welshpool (9 miles) to Newtown.
Offa’s Dyke Path – National Trail (177 miles in total) following the Welsh/English border. Nearest section starts at Buttington Bridge, 10.5 miles away.
