Description

Ochr y Rhiw is a picturesque stone-built cottage in an elevated position, overlooking a river and woodland to the hills behind. This stylish cottage beautifully combines the contemporary with original features such as stone inglenook fireplaces and exposed beams. With bi-fold doors extending the width of the kitchen space, the elevated terrace feels like a natural extension that brings the outside in. You could easily spend all day here, admiring the tranquil views and the multitude of birds, attracted to what has to be one of the most popular feeding stand in Mid Wales.

Nestled in a private setting within the village of Cwmllinau, central to the market towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau, as well as Snowdonia National Park and Cardigan Bay. Whether you're looking for a homely retreat where you can relax in style, or a base from which to explore this beautiful area with your family, friends or pets, Ochr y Rhiw is highly recommended. 1.2 mile to a village shop / cafe and pub, a great choice of restaurants and plenty of attractions nearby. These include the Old Parliament House and the Centre for Alternative Technology, Ynys-Hir Nature Reserve, King Arthur's Labyrinth and Corris Craft Centre, not to mention a myriad of scenic walks and cycle trails.

Reviews

Lovely cottage in peaceful, private location. Very well equipped with comprehensive instructions for appliances and safety, it was warm and cosy with comfortable beds and quality linen and towels. Lovely deck for outdoor dining, weather permitting. Kitchen equipment and crockery are extensive. including Air fryer, slow cooker and bread maker. Stairs are short but steep with steps up and down to bedrooms so not suitable for physically challenged and some low ceilings/doorways. Thecottage is at the bottom of a steep driveway.

Mrs M,

Lovely stay. Location was central to all our activities planned. 45-1 hr drive. Very helpful hosts if and when needed. Didn’t take our dog in the end. Def the right decision for him as very hilly, steep drive and lots of steps within the cottage. Lovely area by the river. Great place to relax for the week.

Mrs W,

Beautiful cottage. Feels like a tree house. Well equipped, with everything you could need. Fab kitchen diner with bi fold doors

Mrs B,

Lovely cottage, lovely location, would definitely return.

Mr T,

The cottage has been beautifully restored and is in a perfect setting, with local amenities but feeling so calm and peaceful. It is very well equipped, and fixtures, fittings and bedding are all of great quality. We'll absolutely be staying again.

Miss B,

Super house. Really enjoyed staying there. Bigger than expected, and a really nice place to stay for a week. Would highly recommend.

Mr O,

Spent a relaxing week at Ochr y Rhiw with our two dogs who loved the river and long walks every day. They were exhausted. Beautiful cottage well equipped with everything you need. I didn't even have to do washing when I got home. Good location if you're a plane spotter. 15mins from Mach loop. Torrent walk 15mins drive away. And Barmouth beach is 30mins away and fish and chips from the Mermaid are the best.

Mrs B,

A comfortable, well equipped cottage in a good location, peaceful and good quality furnishings and fittings. We hope to return.

Mrs H,

Absolutely perfect location for our family holiday with three grandchildren, busy days ended with playing in the stream. Those villagers that we met were extremely friendly and their Village Hall is now open for £5 per hour for snooker….sadly we were too busy dam building, but perhaps another year. Our visit coincided with the Village fun day, a perfect opportunity to enjoy what’s on the doorstep, and short walks close by, plus the great tourist attractions, but mainly spectacular views…including the Mach Loop being used.

Mrs P,
