Reviews

We had a lovely stay over the Easter weekend in this quite unique property. It's located in a rural location and we woke up every morning to the sound of birds chirping! This beautifully restored former railway station also has an EV Charger which makes travelling to the cottage and exploring the surrounding countryside in a EV car very possible.

Mr M,

Superb location and wonderful conversion of the original railway station. A great deal of care and attention has been put into the renovation/conversion and there were so many lovely touches that made the place feel very authentic. It was an extremely cosy and comfortable place to stay with stunning scenery on our doorstep, the wifi was also very fast and reliable and completely unexpected. We would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing and comfortable stay with so much to do in the area.

Mrs H,

We wanted a chilled, relaxed getaway & we couldn't have been happier! The Station is visible as you come up the lane & immediately takes you back in time - the original station sign welcomes you at the gate and the view down to the platform is a picture. The station building from the outside looks just like it would have originally, painted in GWR livery colours. The inside was just as perfect, all the amenities you need & more. Its a real mix of having everything you want but with a nod to the original time & use of the building, original fireplace with a log burner, vintage fridge, old railway lamp converted for modern use & stable style front door. Although we didn't get to use it there is a table & chair set set down off the platform in the garden as well as a further seating area & fire pit at thd bottom of the grounds. We sat with the stable door half open listening to the birds in the morning whilst having a coffee. We have already said we want to go back later in the year when we can take advantage of the grounds more! Even if you're not a train enthusiast (I'm not ) you cant help but appreciate the work that has gone into the restoration inside & out of the cottage. We can't recommend it highly enough & can't wait to return!

Mr M,

Such an idyllic location in the Welsh country side, the cottage is incredibly cosy and so warm with the log burner.

Mr K,

We were delighted with the 3 night stay at Derry Ormond during November 2024. The detail that had gone into this renovation was expertly carried out with finesse and incredible style. The log burner was a special treat for us so that tipped this stay over to the luxury side. If you enjoy peace and tranquility with abit of history in the mix then this will tick all the boxes for you. We created fond memories during our stay which will last beyond our lifetime. Thank-you Sonia it was a blast!

Miss B,

A must stay for railway enthusiasts, particularly those that remember the Manchester and Milford Railway! A rare opportunity to live and sleep in an authentically restored railway station building. No longer a draughty waiting room and booking office, but warm, cosy and well appointed accommodation! The love and care (as well as the hard work) of the owner and renovations team have created a magical setting full of nostalgia and an ideal location for a peaceful staycation - a station staycation at that!

Mrs H,

This is delightful and cosy place to stay - and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The cottage has been sensitively and beautifully renovated to a high standard with lovely touches to remind you of its railway past. The owner was helpful in recommending local places to visit, eat and shop - and there was clear communication throughout our stay. Thoroughly recommended.

Mr T,

Cosy and charming, Derry Ormond Halt has been lovingly and effectively restored with an appreciative regard for its railway history. It is a well-equipped and comfortable place to stay with some enjoyably quirky features. Pre-arrival communication with the owner was very helpful, as was her gracious and informative welcome. We've already recommended it to friends and would certainly stay there again.

Mr P,

When I read about Derry Ormond Halt having been converted into a holiday let, I just had to book myself in. My grandfather was once a signalman at the station and my father spent many a summer's day playing in the fields nearby. So, needless to say, nothing was going to hold me back from getting a glimpse of my family's past. Well, it didn't disappoint. The whole place was delightful. From the moment you enter through the gates, you find yourself in an enchanting expanse of green tranquility. The property's description offers a precise description, so I will not rehearse. All I can say is that what you see in the pictures and the description is exactly what you get - and then some. Taking in all the clever little touches and nods to the building's past was a real treat, all thoughtfully and carefully crafted. Being in such delightful surroundings, indoors and outdoors, there was no need to go anywhere else. Armed with plenty of food, a choice of books and comfy lounge wear, I was happy. The television is high spec so you can use your own streaming services - ideal for film night in front of the log fire. The owner was most accommodating and always only a text message away. Sonia - Thank you for all your hard work in bringing this little gem back to life, and for allowing me to stay. It is absolutely beautiful and a real treat for anyone wishing to just escape from life's hectic routines. I'm already planning my next little getaway! Diolch yn fawr iawn.

Miss W,

Great quirky cottage. Will be great in winter with log fire burning. Lampeter nice enough but limited on food. Lovely surrounding countryside
