Christmas is about spending time with the family and in the run up to Christmas why not squeeze in a visit to Wales and enjoy our wonderful Christmas events. We’re giving you a quick guide of some of the festive activities taking place, from food markets, to santa train journeys to gardens at night. Take a look and plan your Christmas short break in Wales.

Cardiff Christmas Market, Cardiff 

Now until the 23 of December - Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm, Sunday 10am to 5pm (With some dates open later)

CardiffThe Cardiff Christmas Market has returned to the pedestrian streets of Cardiff City Centre in St John Street, Working Street, Hills Street, Trinity Street and the Hayes with an exciting and eclectic mix of both new and returning exhibitors as their original, hand made products are the essence of what makes our market so different and special

Llanerchaeron Christmas Fair, near Aberaeron, West Wales

2 – 3 of December

A weekend of mince pies, mulled wine and over 70 local food and craft stalls. Llanerchaeron house will be decorated for Christmas and there will be a visit from Father Christmas and a treasure hunt for the children.

 

Portmeirion Food and Craft Fair, Snowdonia - North Wales

1 – 3 December

Enjoy live music, cookery demonstrations, workshops and a magical Christmas Grotto. New additions to the event this year include Christmas films and an elf dash.

The Garden’s Winter Wonderland – The National Botanic Gardens of Wales, West Wales

8 – 17 (4 – 7pm)

Come ‘To the Park After Dark’ this festive season and enjoy:

  • Amazing lights show
  • Stunning owl display
  • Free mulled wine and mince pie
  • Bar, barbecue, turkey rolls, candy floss and other yuletide treats
  • Fun, games and music

10 December

Street Food, Kids Activities, chef demos, tasting workshops, lantern parade, carols and more

Vale of Rheidol Santa Special , Aberystwyth, West Wales

16, 17, 20, 21, 22 and 23 December 2017 (Departure times are 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30.)

The specially decorated Santa train will depart from Aberystwyth station for the one hour round trip through the Rheidol countryside, as far as Capel Bangor and back. Along the journey, Santa will join you to find out what you would like for Christmas! 

Festive Afternoon Tea @ Powys Castle, Welshpool, Mid Wales

1 – 22 December (Booking Essential)

Take some time out and enjoy afternoon tea with loved ones. Enjoy a luxurious menu full of sweet and savoury delights including mini sandwiches, chocolate meringue kisses with a raspberry dip, mini ginger breads and a traditional Fruit scone with jam and cream.
