Explore The Film Set of West Wales This Year!

Head to the beautiful landscapes of Ceredigion, West Wales to explore the natural film locations of the popular TV drama Y Gwyll (Hinterland).
Y Gwyll was first broadcast in Welsh by S4C in the autumn of 2013, followed by a ‘one off’ episode on New Year’s Day this year. The English version, Hinterland, has been a great success and was broadcast on BBC Four in the UK and is available also on Netflix.

Set around the coastal town of Aberystwyth, in Series 1 we were introduced to DCI Mathias, a mysterious and intriguing character with a chequered history. A series of murders to solve the series took us around the spectacular scenery and landscape of Ceredigion, including Borth and Ynys Las, the Cambrian Mountains and Devil’s Bridge to name a few.
Now it’s your chance to explore the area and to help you out Discover Ceredigion have produced this great guide to the area. And filming for series 2 is well underway so there’ll be further opportunity to see the area on your screens later on this year.
