Reviews

Exceeded expectations in all respects from the generous welcome supplies to the friendly host. Comfortable, cosy and well maintained farmhouse in wonderful surroundings. Will be returning for more.

Mr G,

We had a most enjoyable week at Gellilwyd Fach. The house is comfortable and spacious, and the surroundings are peaceful and scenic. There are walks straight from the door. We appreciated the thoughtful and generous welcome basket, and all the care and attention that has clearly gone into making this an excellent holiday cottage – one of the best of the many we have stayed in over the years. The kitchen was very well equipped; I can’t think of anything that was missing, and I do a lot cooking. A good night’s sleep was also ensured: we loved the luxury of the super-king-size beds and the truly palatial main bedroom! Thank you so much, Elwyn and Iola, for a lovely and memorable holiday.

Ms S,

A wonderfully tranquil and isolated cottage, a mile outside Dolgellau set back just off a small quiet road. Literally on the footpath to Cader Idris and the beauty of S Snowdonia. Spacious yet snug, fabulous views and only birdsong and the gentle bleating of sheep to break the silence. Just what we wanted - thank you

Mr M,

A fabulous cottage in a fabulous location! This is a beautiful old stone farmhouse, full of character, and well renovated to provide all modern conveniences, including a very well equipped kitchen, large bathroom and shower with good water pressure, efficient boiler, and fast wi-fi. It is located just outside Dolgellau, in wild countryside beneath Cader Idris, and in easy reach of some lovely walks and good local restaurants.

Mr F,

We spent a fantastic week at the cottage and were blessed with good weather allowing us to enjoy sitting outside for coffee and breakfast. The cottage is located in an idyllic spot..quiet and overlooking a tree lined valley but close enough to Dolgellau that you can pop in to town in 5 minutes. The cottage is very well appointed and was extremely comfortable. We Were very pleased and grateful to find a hospitality basket with local fare, biscuits cheese. eggs milk, all provided. Coffee and tea Also. All in all an excellent cottage and great host Elwyn who came by to greet us and water the three resident Rams in the field in front of the house. Great holiday! Thanks for having us.

Mr G,

I loved staying here. The location is perfect and so peaceful with the most lovely views and wonderful birdsong. Iola is a very good host and has really given the house personality and equipped it thoughtfully. It’s at the top end of holiday houses and feels like her own holiday home. I’d love to come back and would definitely recommend it.

Ms D,

Lovely cottage in a great rural location. The cottage was clean and well equipped. The beds are large and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to spend another holiday there. Thank you

Ms F,

The cottage is lovely and the surrounding are very pretty

Mrs V,

A really cosy warm cottage in. Lovely position, very thoughtfully equipped and we had a lovely week.

Mrs D,

This is our 9th return visit! We love it. We love being able to walk from the cottage to lakes and mountains. We love the sea air and empty beaches. We love the cosy warmth from the log burner and beautifully comfy beds. Listening to the birds while soaking in the bath is heaven.

Mrs S,

A lovely, cosy cottage with stunning walks from the door or a short drive away

Mrs D,

Warm, cosy and welcoming with lovely walks and eating places within a short walk. Owls in the woods, bird song and silence is all you hear, perfect retreat from city life.

Mrs J,

This is an attractive and very comfortable property in a wonderful location. There are amazing views and it's only just over a mile to the centre of Dolgellau.

Ms B,

Beautiful location, easy, short walk to the nearby town. Friendly owner. Would recommend

Miss J,

The property was beautiful. It was very old, but lovingly restored and comfortable throughout. All the facilities were spot on and it was exactly what we needed for our week away. It was isolated in a fantastic picturesque location, but still within reach of the nearest town of Dolgellau. We walked it a few times, both in and out, but some people might want to drive or get a taxi. We like walking, so this was not a problem for us. You will enjoy the birdfeeder in the garden and the 3 grumpy looking sheep in the field opposite!

Mr C,

Beautiful accommodation and we were well looked after.

Ms M,

This is our second trip here, we stayed back in March and have just booked to come again in August - we love it here. It is so peaceful and quiet which is the antithesis of where we live near Gatwick. Dolgellau is a lovely little town and the views around are wonderful. We spent our time doing really rather little apart from reading and chatting and watching the birds, thing we never have the chance to do at home. We loved the Christmas touches - the decorations and the holly. Also how the cottage has been furnished. A really super cottage - thank you. Also continue to be impressed by Best of Wales - very good customer service. We look forward to seeing the area in summer.
