Aberdaron is a beautiful seaside village at the very tip of the Llyn Peninsula and offers a warm Welsh welcome. It boasts a magnificent mile long sandy beach, quaint cafes and two excellent pubs. There is also a visitor centre, fish and chip shop, pizza takeaway, newsagent, butchers and small supermarket.
Offering direct access to the Wales Coastal Path, the village also features the historic Church of St Hywyn, which dates back to the 6th century. Located on the pilgrim route that leads to the sacred island of Bardsey (Ynys Enlli in Welsh), two miles off-shore, this is a journey still enjoyed by many, and boat trips are available from Porth Meudwy, 1.5 miles from Aberdaron. Remember to keep an eye out for seals, dolphins and all manner of bird life. You can also hire bikes in the village if you wish to explore the beauty of the Llyn on two wheels.
The Llŷn Peninsula is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With numerous other picturesque villages, hidden coves and sandy beaches dotted around the peninsula, it is definitely worth exploring. A visit to Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, a magnificent Manor with galleries, beautiful gardens and tea room with sea views is highly recommended and Glasfryn Parc is also a fun day out with its go-karting, ten-pin bowling, archery etc. Other popular attractions include the Ffestiniog and Highland steam train journeys, Cricieth and Caernarfon castles, the Italian village of Portmeirion and Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.
